A 19-year-old man was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated and power was knocked out for about an hour and a half after a crash on Wisconsin 29 on Thursday night.
According to a news release from the Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department, at 8:55 p.m. Thursday a deputy came upon a vehicle in the ditch that had struck a power pole near Sleepy Hollow Road in the town of Montpelier.
The crash caused a power outage in the area, and the state highway was closed for about 90 minutes while low-lying power lines were repaired.
The 19-year-old driver, who received minor injuries, was arrested on an OWI (second offense) charge as well as possession of drug paraphernalia.
Assistance was provided by Luxemburg Fire & Rescue, Wisconsin State Patrol, Door County Sheriff’s Department and Wisconsin Public Service, and the accident remains under investigation by local authorities, the release said.
