Kewaunee County Emergency Management is sponsoring an all-day training session, “Social Media for Disaster Response and Recovery,” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Feb. 28 at the department office, 625 Third St., Luxemburg.The training is through the National Disaster Preparedness Training Center (NDPTC) at the University of Hawaii, which develops and delivers disaster preparedness training to governmental, private, and nonprofit entities.
The course focuses on the use of social media in disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. Social media can provide rapid and immediate real-time information about events that helps provide greater situational awareness leading to better decision making. Participants are provided with the knowledge and skills to integrate social media into their current communication plans.
